Take a look at the following charts, and see if you can make sense of the imperial conversions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.fictiv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/unit-debate-image01.png\" alt=\"Imperial Chart\" class=\"wp-image-2659 lazyload\" width=\"713\" height=\"230\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"705\" height=\"153\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.fictiv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/unit-debate-image-02.png\" alt=\"Metric chart\" class=\"wp-image-2660 lazyload\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re still not convinced\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Answer the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Imperial:<\/strong> What is half of the diameter of a 1\/32\u2033 hole that\u2019s 4 thou oversized?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Metric: <\/strong>What is half of the diameter of a 0.8mm hole that\u2019s 0.1 mm oversized?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*questions from Michael Good.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you busted out your calculator and began solving fractions, you\u2019ve already added unnecessary complexity to your design. In the end, both answers result in the same distance when rounded\u20140.017 inches, or 0.425mm.
