This article will show you how to access this capability, as well as explore the different finishes we offer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"get-instant-pricing-for-multiple-finishes\">Get Instant Pricing for Multiple Finishes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To get a quote for one or more finishes, log in to the Fictiv platform and upload a <a href=\"https:\/\/help.fictiv.com\/en\/articles\/901841-what-file-formats-does-fictiv-support\">parametric CAD file<\/a>. As of now, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fictiv.com\/cnc-machining-service#cnc-surface-finishing-options\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">finishing capabilities<\/a> are for CNC parts only, so first <strong>Configure<\/strong> the part for CNC and then select your desired <strong>Material<\/strong> and <strong>Quantity<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, click <strong>Save<\/strong> and an option for <strong>+ Add finish<\/strong> will appear. Move your cursor over the button, and the finishing options for your chosen material will appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"554\" height=\"678\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.fictiv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screen-Shot-2021-10-05-at-2.15.41-PM.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20291 lazyload\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Selecting a finish will show the additional lead time and cost, and depending on your selection, you may also be prompted to select <strong>Color<\/strong> and\/or <strong>Thickness<\/strong>. Once you click <strong>Add finish<\/strong>, your selection will be added on to your part, and you may proceed with adding additional finishes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure accurate production, our platform intelligently provides guidance on which finishes can and cannot be combined and arranges the order of the processes according to what makes sense for production, not by the order in which you add them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"684\" height=\"390\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.fictiv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/finishing-parts-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20292 lazyload\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you add a finish, the <strong>Production speed<\/strong> and <strong>Total price<\/strong> on the bottom right of the configuration window update automatically. Finishing is priced per lot, so you will see the per unit price go down as you add quantity. For example, if the cost of anodizing one part is $50, adding one more unit divides that $50 across both units, bringing the per unit price down to $25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"364\" height=\"420\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.fictiv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/gif-2c.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20293 lazyload\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the finishes are offered both domestically and overseas, giving you the flexibility to toggle between different options to find the perfect balance of speed and price.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"discover-our-range-of-finishes\">Discover Our Range of Finishes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is a list of the finishes we currently offer for machined parts. For more in-depth information, refer to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fictiv.com\/capabilities\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Capabilities Guide<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Anodizing<\/strong> <strong>Type<\/strong> <strong>II<\/strong> &#8211; Grows the natural oxide layer on aluminum parts for protection from wear and corrosion, as well as for cosmetic effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Anodizing<\/strong> <strong>Type<\/strong> <strong>III<\/strong> &#8211; A thicker layer, or \u201chardcoat\u201d of Type II anodizing, making the part more durable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Anodizing Type III + Teflon (PTFE)<\/strong> &#8211; Covers an anodized surface with highly lubricous Teflon. Useful for tightly toleranced parts subject to friction where a solid film lubricant would cause issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alodine<\/strong> &#8211; Also known as \u2018chromate conversion coating\u2019 or \u2018chem film\u2019, Alodine provides corrosion resistance and good conductive properties for aluminum parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Black<\/strong> <strong>Oxide<\/strong> &#8211; Conversion coating for steel and stainless steel. Adds mild corrosion resistance and leaves an appealing black finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media<\/strong> <strong>Blasting<\/strong> &#8211; An abrasive blaster removes surface blemishes and deposits by applying glass beads at high pressure. Leaves a matte finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Passivation<\/strong> &#8211; Improves corrosion resistance for steel and stainless steel parts without a visible finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Zinc<\/strong> <strong>Plating<\/strong> &#8211; Adds a thin layer of Zinc onto a part\u2019s surface for environmental and corrosive protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nickel<\/strong> <strong>Plating<\/strong> &#8211; Similar to Zinc Plating, but leaves a slightly smoother finish and is slightly more expensive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Electroless<\/strong> <strong>Nickel<\/strong> <strong>Plating<\/strong> &#8211; Leaves a more uniform thickness on part surfaces and results in superior wear and corrosion resistance than standard Nickel Plating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tumbling<\/strong> &#8211; Smooths and polishes rough metal surfaces.
