When you request a quote with Fictiv, your part is evaluated by our team of Manufacturing Engineers. Fictiv will provide Design For Manufacturability (DFM) feedback throughout the quoting and ordering process to ensure your design is optimized for Injection Molding and that any quality risks or requirements deviations are discussed and acknowledged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order for Fictiv to proceed with injection molding tooling, you must approve the feedback that is being shared with you. This ensures a common understanding of the requirements and expected outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Powerpoint based DFM reports have been discontinued.<\/strong> For instructions on how to review and respond to an existing Powerpoint file, please refer to this Help Center article<\/a>.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

How to review your DFM reports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You will receive an email notification when new DFM reports are ready for your review and approval. When DFM reports are available for a part, an orange link will appear below your part and drawing file names. Click this link to view the DFM reports available for your part. You can also access your DFM reports by clicking the \u201cManufacturability feedback\u201d tab above the Molds and parts<\/strong> section in your quote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to approve the DFM feedback<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Depending on your part design, Fictiv may provide a different manufacturability status for different topics such as Draft analysis or Thickness analysis. In order to proceed, Fictiv requires a response on slides with an open status such as \u201cWarning\u201d or \u201cApproval required\u201d. To respond to the DFM feedback in your report, you can click on \u201cView feedback\u201d in the \u201cManufacturability feedback\u201d tab of your quote or order details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the slides that are labeled as 3D, you will be able to interact with the 3D viewer and see different angles of your part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also toggle between the 3D DFM and 2D DFM of a 3D slide by clicking the corresponding buttons. The 3D DFM allows you to interact with the 3D viewer and view different angles of the part, while the 2D DFM can be used to annotate, comment, and ask questions to your Fictiv representative. Moreover, when you download your part DFM report, the 2D slides will be included in the resulting PDF file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: <\/strong>Once you have responded to a slide, you will not be able to change your response directly on the Fictiv platform. If for any reason, you need to change your response, please click \u2018Chat with us\u2019 to be directed to your Fictiv account representative. They will be able to reset the status of your response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to annotate a slide in DFM report<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes your design intent does not align with the DFM feedback you receive. This could be because of reasons such as the proposed parting line, ejector pin location, or required draft angle for assembly components. In cases where you need to respond to the DFM feedback and request a change or clarification to the proposed tooling design, you can click \u201cAnnotate slide\u201d on all topics that have the status of \u201cRevision required\u201d, \u201cWarning\u201d, or \u201cApproval required\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After you have added your annotations to the slide, click \u2018Save and exit\u2019 to return to the DFM report. You will be able to edit these annotations until you notify Fictiv that you have reviewed the DFM report. Once a Fictiv engineer has reviewed your responses, they will reach out to you with instructions on how to proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that the annotation feature will not be available for any slides where you have already approved feedback or accepted any warnings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to notify Fictiv of your responses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you\u2019ve finished reviewing and responding to all of the DFM reports in your quote, it\u2019s important to notify Fictiv that your responses are ready to be reviewed and to provide you with instructions for next steps. Click \u2018Notify Fictiv\u2019 in the blue banner above your DFM reports to send a notification to Fictiv. At this time, you will still be able to review the DFM reports but the reports will be locked from changes until a Fictiv engineer releases the quote back to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note, if you need to make any changes while Fictiv is reviewing your responses, you can click \u2018Edit quote\u2019. After you\u2019ve made your corrections, please remember to click \u2018Notify Fictiv\u2019 again so that the Fictiv engineer can resume reviewing your responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
